MONROE, S.D. — One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash in rural McCook County on Tuesday morning.

Shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, first responders were called to mile marker 345 of South Dakota Highway 42, roughly 10 miles northeast of Monroe, for a report of a two-vehicle crash.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol said a 39-year-old man from Monroe was driving a 2012 Volkswagen CC Sport eastbound on SD 42, near the intersection with 454th Avenue. The Volkswagen cross the center line and crashed head-on into an approaching tanker truck, which was driven by a 52-year-old man from Mitchell.
