SIOUX FALLS — South Dakota, South Dakota State and North Dakota State finished in a three-way tie for the Missouri Valley Football Conference title, so not surprisingly the Coyotes, Jackrabbits and Bison dominated the all-conference team and postseason awards.
NDSU quarterback Cam Miller was named the league's offensive player of the year and running back CharMar Brown was voted both the newcomer of the year and freshman of the year.
Meanwhile USD's Bob Nielson was awarded coach of the year and Coyote defensive end Mi'Quise Grace was chosen as the defensive player of the year.
Nielson is the league's coach of the year for the second straight season, having led USD to a 9-2 record and the No. 4 seed in the FCS tournament, one year after he guided the Coyotes to the first 10-win season in the program's Division I era. Grace, a sophomore from Cincinnati, led the league with 9.5 sacks and 17 tackles for loss.
Including first team, second team and honorable mention honorees, the Coyotes totaled 17 all-conference selections. SDSU had 16 and NDSU 14.
Jackrabbit quarterback Mark Gronowski earned his fourth all-conference selection while linebacker Adam Bock was named to the first team for the third time in his career.
